Recently, we had to do an interview on a person we admire. I chose my tennis coach, Adam. He inspires me to play tennis and to get better at it all the time. This is my interview with him.
Interview is done on my tennis coach, Adam.
Interview done by Spencer Hallenbeck at 4:30 P.M., on the last Thursday of May.
How long have you bin playing tennis and what is your favorite part of it?
I have bin playing since I was 11, or 33 years. My favorite part is the athletic ability of running and hitting at the same time, unlike just running or hitting a ball and then running like baseball. It is very good exercise.
How long have you bin teaching people to play tennis and why do you continue to do so?
Since I was 18years old which would be 26 years. I enjoy working with the students, improving people’s tennis skills, the smiles, and happiness of the people learning to play and accomplishing things like the perfect serve or swing.
What do think the most important part of tennis is?
Consistency is the most important part by far as you don’t have to hit hard if you can get it into the court. Have the other person make the mistakes.
Who is your favorite tennis player and why?
Roger Federer because he’s very classy on the court, humble, and has the best shots in the history of tennis.
How many tennis tournaments have you participated in and which one was your favorite?
I have participated in about 500. My favorite was the Northern Colorado Open a few years ago. I beat the number 1 player in the tournament. He was 21 and I 42 so I doubled his age exactly. No one though I would win so it felt really good.
What is the biggest mistake you see people make?
They don’t hold the racket the correct way for certain shots like the serve.
How can they fix it?
By taking a lesson or two especially with me and going out on their own and practicing it.
What is the biggest tip you would give to someone just starting to play tennis?
Make sure that no matter what happens that you laugh and have fun after all it’s just a game. It doesn’t matter who wins or loses as long as you have fun.
Stingray Migrations
There are many types of stingrays, and they live in many places. They have cool history and amazing looks. An example of history is that electric ray was used as therapy in Ancient Rome. They would put it on a person to numb them! Did you know a group of stingrays is called a fever, so if you have some stingrays, you can always say “Sorry I can’t come, I have a fever.” The cownose stingray of the Atlantic Ocean has migrations of thousands every year! You can’t see anything below 10 ft in depth there are so many. Lastly, stingrays are born in a burrito shape with their “wings” folded over their chest and tail tucked in too. Stingrays are a cool fascinating animal and i hope to learn more about them.
Deadly Stingrays
Ok I was looking at stingrays and guess what I found, that the only reason crocodile hunter died is because he was stupid. In fact, the same thing happened 6 weeks later to a 70 year old man and he survived! This is because he didn’t try to pull the barbed tail out of his heart, unlike crocodile hunter. Also, there in a type of stingray that is the largest freshwater fish, is brown and lives in brown rivers of Asia and Australia, and has a tail so powerful that it can smash all your bones and it is slightly spiked like a mace. This thing is practically invisible and fast and will kill you so look out if you got to Asia or Australia
Applewhites book mid point
Honestly, my opinion of this book has not changed. It is still boring, has a flawed plot, and Jake would not do any of this in real life. He would probably burn the Creative Academy to the ground. Also, Jake would not stop being a criminal unlike what the story says. Also, there are so many conveniences like Jake being able to act and sing well even though he never has before and this kid smokes everyday and the just stops smoking. He was clearly addicted! Lastly, the most exciting thing in this is a Sound of Music play and that play is boring! Your opinion might differ but this is what I am getting from this boring and tasteless book.
Surviving the Applewhites
The book we have to read is called Surviving the Applewhites and is is a boring book about a kid on drugs that burns down schools. A play near the end of the book held by the crazy family he is staying with makes him good. That’s pretty much all that happens and is literally a book about crazy artistic people. That’s it. End of story.
In class we had to do a paragraph on our opinion on this book so here it is below
I do not think I will enjoy the book, “Surviving the Applewhites.” One reason is because it constantly talks about drugs and swearing which I do not like. Another is this is very boring as nothing much seems to be happening in this book. One example of this is that they are just doing class. There is more happening in the past year of Jake’s life than this book will hold I assume. I would never read this book on my own will if I could because everything is fruitless, intended for 3rd graders, and wrong. Examples of this in no interesting language, talking about jail, drugs, and burning things down. Overall this seems like it is going to be a bland, tasteless book which is not for me.
My definition of passion
Passion is a wonderful thing. It is a like for something. It is an obsession sometimes. A hobby, a job, anything. To me it is learning, reading, and airsoft. A genius hour project should have passion. If you don’t enjoy a project you do worse compared to a one you like. If you have a passion for a project, it will be one of the best you have ever made. Passion is important and people should always have passion in what they do.
